20 April 2022 - Everton vs Leicester City

I purchased this shirt when I visited my friend Jorge Yslas in Liverpool. Jorge and I met in Lausanne, while he was doing a research stay. To be honest, Jorge is not a big football fan but since he knew I am, he decided to take me to Goodison Park to watch my first ever Premier League match.

23 April 2022 - Manchester City vs Watford

I bought this shirt when I visited my friend Max Clarke in Manchester. Max and I met in Barcelona, during my Master's studies. We were flatmates and shared many common interests, football certainly being one of them. Max has been a Man City fan since childhood (actually, he is one of the few true Man City fans) and didn't want to miss the opportunity to take me to the Etihad Stadium during my stay in this great city.

April 2022 - Liverpool ONE

Liverpool ONE is probably the most famous shopping mall in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Not surprisingly, Liverpool FC's store is one of the most visited shops in this amazing mall. A very curious fact about this store is that it is located right next to an Everton store. The Merseyside derby represents the football matches between Everton and Liverpool FC, the two main clubs in Liverpool (one of the greatest rivalries in football).

October 2022 - Classic Football Shirts

I always wanted to visit the Classic Football Shop in the United Kingdom. I recently visited my friend Israel, who is an actuary working in the amazing city of London. Israel and I met when we were both working as Actuarial Analysts for Willis Towers Watson in Mexico City. Car pooling every day and spending from 2 to 3 hours together in Mexico City’s chaotic traffic definitely strengthened our friendship.

April 2017 - Camp Nou

I got this shirt when I visited for the first time my friend Rodrigo Villanueva (a.k.a. "Ro", "Kabuto" or "Kabu") in Barcelona. Ro and I met when we were kids and football was what brought us together. Since then, we have been close friends to the point at which I consider him as my brother. He took me to Camp Nou to buy this shirt. A fun fact is that Ro was living just next to the stadium (he was able to hear people every time Barça scored a goal).

February 2023 - Tienda Oficial Valencia CF - Megastore

I bought this shirt when I attended the conference Perspectives on Actuarial Risks in Young Researchers Talks (PARTY) in Valencia. Edinson Cavani has been one of the best strikers in recent years. Along with Luis Suárez, Cavani will be remembered as one of the best Uruguayan strikers of all time.

16th March 2022 - Lausanne, Switzerland

This shirt is very special to me, as it was a gift for my 30th birthday from my colleagues of the Department of Actuarial Science (DSA) at the University of Lausanne. The shirt itself is very special since it has a reduced version of my name and the number 30, in reference to my age on that day. Moreover, the design of the number is unique, as it has the names of some Lausanne Sport supporters written on it.

January 2017 - Mexico

This shirt belongs to Miguel Layún, right back defender of the Mexican national team. Miguel and I met at a party in 2013 and he is one of the persons with the strongest mindsets I have ever met. He has an outstanding international career in which he has played for multiple clubs in Mexico, Italy, England, Portugal and Spain.

July 2022 - Adidas Brand Center Madero

Edson Álvarez a.k.a. "El Machín" is originally from Tlalnepantla, a neighbouring municipality of Naucalpan, the municipality where I grew up in Mexico. Since the beginning of his career, his qualities stood out. He started playing for teams in the municipality of Tlalnepantla to then join Club America’s youth system at the age of 16, making his professional debut in 2016 at the age of 19. Edson currently plays for AFC Ajax in Amsterdam.

November 2022 - Ochsner Sport

Granit Xhaka is a Swiss professional footballer and captain of the Switzerland national team. Granit was part of the team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2009, beating the host country Nigeria in the final (1-0). His career has been exceptional, playing for major European teams: Basel (Switzerland), Borussia Mönchengladbach (Germany) and Arsenal F.C. (England).

December 2022 - Adidas

Joshua Kimmich began his career at R. B. Leipzig in 2013 and is currently the captain of Bayern Munich. He made his debut for Die Mannschaft in 2016 and has been selected for two World Cups with the German national team: the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018™ and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. Every time I see Kimmich play for Die Mannschaft he reminds me of the great Philipp Lahm.

October 2022 - Kingston

This shirt is special to me because it reminds me of Rishi Raithatha, a friend I made at the International Conference on Inclusive Insurance (ICII) 2022 in Kingston. Rishi and I met at the conference and realized that we had many things in common, being football one of them. One of the things I love most about attending conferences is creating these kinds of connections with people from all over the world.

June 2018 - San José

I purchased this shirt when I visited San José, Costa Rica, in 2018. Some of the players who played for this team were: Keylor Navas, Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell. Costa Rica's natural beauties attract thousands of tourists every year. During my trip to this beautiful country, apart from visiting some wonderful places such as the Irazú volcano, I was also able to practice some rafting!

May 2023 - Dubai

This shirt is very special to me. First, because it was an amazing gift from my ex-girlfriend Valeryia. Second, because it belongs to my favorite football player, Leo Messi. Also, it is the jersey with which Leo won his first World Cup. On the chest patch is the legend "FIFA World Champions 2022". Undoubtedly, after Leo's great achievement, we can consider him the best football player in history.

December 2021 - Asturias, Spain

I was born in Mexico City but my roots come from a village called "Los Callejos" in the municipality of Llanes in the province of Asturias, northern Spain. I visited Llanes in 2021 and bought the jersey of the local team: Club Deportivo Llanes. Founded in 1949, the team plays in the Third Division RFEF - Group 2. The club's home ground is the San José, with a capacity of 2,000 spectators.

February 2023 - Amsterdam, Netherlands

Great gift from my friend Dina Finger, from the Department of Actuarial Science (DSA) at the University of Lausanne. Dina knows that I am a big football fan. She also knew about my collection of football jerseys. So when she visited a friend of hers in Amsterdam, she didn't hesitate to ask at the Ajax store if there were any Mexicans playing for the club. Then, indeed, she discovered that "El Machín" was currently playing for Ajax.
